My name is Becs Griffiths and I am a fully qualified medical herbalist based in Bristol. I have been practising for five years, since I received a First class honours degree in Herbal Medicine in 2009. I`m also a full member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists.
In my first year after qualifying I worked at Common Ground Health Clinic in New Orleans, where I practised alongside other medical staff to provide free primary healthcare to those who are uninsured. This was a unique opportunity and I gained valuable experience supporting people with chronic health problems including late onset diabetes, high blood pressure and metabolic syndrome.
In 2010, I established my practice in the wonderful city of Bristol and it has been growing ever since. I feel passionately that herbal medicine should be available as a health option for people whether they choose to use solely herbal medicine or to use it alongside conventional medicine. I also continue to forge strong links with other practitioners in the city, including acupuncturists, osteopaths, counsellors and massage therapists to provide you with the most appropriate care possible.
Alongside my private practise I established Rhizome Community Herbal Clinic to help make herbal medicine more affordable for those unwaged or on low incomes.
Educating people on how to look after their own basic health needs using herbs and nutrition is very important to me. Each year I run a series of herbal courses and seasonal herb walks to promote awareness of local herbals and to encourage a connection between people and their local environment. With other herbalists and growers I founded St Werburgh’s Medicine Garden, a community herb garden open to the public that we are developing as a local educational resource.
