Becs Griffiths

becs griffithsI established my Bristol herbal clinics in 2011, at Neal’s Yard, Clifton and a community clinic at the Wellspring Healthy Living Centre, for residents of Barton Hill and Lawrence Hill.

I also teach herbal medicine courses in Bristol.

My Background

As a medical herbalist I completed four years of university training, gaining a BSc (Hons) First Class degree in Herbal Medicine. I received two awards from the National Institute of Medical Herbalists: the Arthur Baker Award, for best final clinical examination in the UK, and the Dorothy Carroll Award, for top final clinical examination at UEL in 2009.

In 2010, I worked as a herbalist for Common Ground Health Clinic in New Orleans, an integrated free healthcare clinic. I worked in a primary healthcare team providing herbal treatments within a clinic setting. I gained invaluable experience in treating chronic illnesses. I also had the fortune to spend the year studying with Phyllis D. Light at her herbal school in north Alabama. She teaches Southern Appalachian Herbal Medicine which is a unique and insightful strand of herbal medicine.

As part of my professional development I attend several seminars a year. I have also completed a year’s course in Chinese Diagnostic skills with the medical herbalist and acupuncturist Dedj Liebbrandt, which has enabled me to include tongue and pulse diagnosis in my consultations. I am currently embarking on a 4 year acupuncture diploma to further extend my knowledge.

Please see here for more about my approach to herbal treatment and patient care.
